St Hilda’s Way is a new (2015) 40 miles long-distance trail in North Yorkshire, which passes through the delightful scenery of the North York Moors and the valley of the River Esk.
The Walk starts from St. Hilda’s Well, in St. Hilda’s Churchyard, Hinderwell and finishes at Whitby Abbey. It is designed as a pilgrimage and visits eight Churches and Chapels all dedicated to St Hilda, as well as two other churches named after St Hedda and St Mary. At each location there is a special focus on a different aspect of the saint’s life, and an opportunity for reflection and meditation.
St. Hilda’s Way was launched in 2015 to celebrate the birth of Hilda 1400 years earlier in 614.
